Overview:
The Design Executive will support the development of innovative, functional, and cost-effective bus body designs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and client specifications. This role involves creating 3D and 2D models, preparing engineering drawings, and collaborating closely with production, procurement, and quality control teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and align with plant capabilities.

Responsibilities:
1. 3D and 2D Design Development:
◦ Create detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings for bus body components and assemblies.
◦ Ensure all designs meet functional, safety, and a esthetic requirements.
◦ Incorporate changes based on feedback from clients, engineering, and production teams.

2. Product Design and Customization:
◦ Work on standard bus designs as well as custom modifications to meet client specifications.
◦ Design components that align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
◦ Ensure each design is optimized for manufacture ability and ease of assembly.

3. Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:
◦ Work closely with production, procurement, and quality control to ensured signs are feasible and cost-effective.
◦ Provide design inputs for procurement of materials and parts.
◦ Participate in design reviews and make adjustments based on feedback from other departments.

4. Prototype and Model Development:
◦ Assist in the development of prototypes and conduct initial tests to validate design concepts.
◦ Coordinate with the testing team to ensure prototypes meet all functional and safety requirements.
◦ Document changes and improvements made during the prototyping phase.

5. Documentation and Compliance:
◦ Prepare and maintain detailed design documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and revisions.
◦ Ensure all design documents meet company and industry standards.
◦ Support the preparation of documentation for regulatory compliance and certification.

1. Design Creation and Modification:
◦ Develop high-quality, detailed designs that meet functional requirements.
◦ Update designs based on evolving customer requirements or regulatory changes.

2. Collaboration and Communication:
◦ Coordinate effectively with production, procurement, and quality control teams.
◦ Maintain open communication with projects take holders to ensure alignment on project goals.

3. Quality and Compliance Assurance:
◦ Ensure all designs comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
◦ Conduct self-reviews and participate in team reviews to identify and correct design errors.

4. Prototype Development and Testing:
◦ Develop and refine prototypes to ensure designs are feasible for production.
◦ Support testing and validation processes for design prototypes.

5. Documentation and Revision Management:
◦ Maintain up-to-date and organized design files, specifications, and revisions.
◦ Ensure all documentation is complete and ready for hand over to production and procurement teams.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

1. Design Accuracy and Quality:
Definition: Percentage of designs that meet client specifications and quality standards on the first review.
◦ Target: 95% first- pass accuracy.
Purpose: Minimizes rework and ensures high standards in the design output.

2. On-Time Completion of Design Projects:
Definition: Percentage of designs completed within the scheduled timeline.
Target: 100% on-time completion.
Purpose: Supports efficient work flow and meets production deadlines.

3. Prototype Success Rate:
◦ Definition: Percentage of prototypes that meet functionality and safety requirements during initial testing.
Target: 90%prototype success rate.
Purpose: Indicates the effectiveness and feasibility of initial designs.

4. Compliance Rate with Industry Standards:
Definition: Percentage of designs that fully comply with regulatory and industry standards.
Target: 100% compliance.
◦ Purpose: Ensures regulatory adherence, minimizing risks related to non-compliance.

5. Collaboration Effectiveness:
Definition: Feedback score from cross-functional teams (production, quality, procurement) regarding the clarity, completeness, and manufacturability of designs.
Target: Minimum 4.5 out of 5 infeed back surveys.
Purpose: Ensures designs meet cross-departmental needs and contribute to smooth production processes.

6. Documentation Completeness and Accuracy:
Definition: Percentage of design documents (drawings, specs, revisions)that are complete and accurate before submission.
Target: 98% completeness and accuracy.
Purpose: Ensures thorough documentation for production, compliance, and project tracking.

7. Cost Efficiency of Design:
Definition: Reduction in production costs achieved through design modifications (e.g., material selection, process improvements).
◦ Target: 5% annual cost reduction from optimized designs.
Purpose: Aligns design function with the company’s cost-efficiency goals.

Additional Requirements: Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.

Experience: 1-3 years in a design role with in manufacturing, automotive, or a related industry.

Skills:
◦ Proficiency in design software like Auto CAD, Solid Works, or similar CAD tools.
◦ Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and design standards.
◦ Ability to translate client requirements in to technical designs.
◦ Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Certifications(optional): Relevant CAD software certification or professional certification in industrial design.
